The Mighty Girls are the 2013 Women’s National Champions of Cambodia!!
From August 16th to 22nd the Football Federation of Cambodia (FFC) organized the National Women’s Football Championships in Phnom Penh.
10 girls teams from different provinces vied for one week for the National Championships trophy.
The Mighty Girls team from Battambang and Baksei Chamkrong from Siem Reap made it into the finals taking place on August 22nd at the National Olympic Stadium.
The game started at 4pm and yet in the very first seconds the Mighty Girls showed their superiority over Siem Reap.
Only after two minutes, Savin, jersey number 10, scored the first goal.
Her teammates, Kimhong and Pheavy, followed her example in the 6th minute and again in the 7th.
The Mighty Girls kept playing hard, and kept attacking well, so that the 15-year-old striker, Pheavy, scored her second goal in the match (4:0,15’min.).
The first half ended 5:0 for the Mighty Girls with midfielder, Savin, scoring her second goal in min 33’.
At the beginning of the second half, Siem Reap surprised the spectators in the Olympic stadium and the Mighty Girls with a goal scored by jersey number 9, Sokchea, in min 52’.
Battambang answered promptly back by a goal of their own from the 17-year-old right winger, Chivey, score 6:1 in min 55’.
Several substitutions from both teams took place in the second half, but it was again jersey number 7 from Battambang, Kimhong, who scored the last goal of the match (7:1 min 80’).
All in all, the spectators in the Olympic stadium watched an underwhelming final, strongly dominated by the Mighty Girls team who showed once again their skills and passion for football.
